PM Modi Highlights IIT, IIM as Foundational Pillars of New India during DU Centenary Celebrations

New Delhi, June 30 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauds the growth of educational institutions in India, hailing them as the building blocks of New India. Speaking at the Valedictory Ceremony of Delhi University’s Centenary celebrations, PM Modi emphasized the increasing numbers of institutions such as IIT, IIM, NIT, and AIIMS across the country. He described these institutions as crucial for the nation’s progress.

Acknowledging Delhi University’s milestone of completing 100 years alongside India’s 75 years of independence, PM Modi praised the university as more than just an academic institution. He referred to it as a movement that has been intricately involved in shaping and energizing various initiatives.

PM Modi also highlighted the improved gender ratio at Delhi University, with the number of female students surpassing that of male students. He drew a parallel between the growing presence of educational institutions and the nation’s development, indicating that the stronger the foundation of these institutions, the higher India can soar.

Additionally, PM Modi discussed the increasing global recognition of Indian universities, citing the rise in QS World University Rankings representation from 12 universities in 2014 to 45 universities now. He emphasized the government’s continuous efforts to enhance the quality of education and promote innovation, including the recent Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) deal between India and the US.

During the Centenary celebrations, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan commended Delhi University for fully implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) under the leadership of the Prime Minister. He emphasized the significance of the occasion and urged everyone to embrace the current moment as India’s moment to fulfill their responsibilities.

PM Modi concluded the event by laying the foundation stone for the Delhi University Computer Centre, as well as the Faculty of Technology building and academic block in the North Campus. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also participated in the Centenary celebrations alongside PM Modi.
