Massive Gathering as Thousands Participate in Eid Prayers in Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, Jun 29 : The Kashmir Valley witnessed a joyous celebration of Eid-ul-Adha as a large number of people gathered at mosques to offer prayers, according to officials. The prayers were conducted peacefully, with no untoward incidents reported, confirmed a police official.

The Hazratbal Shrine hosted the largest congregation, with over 50,000 individuals in attendance. Notably, three former chief ministers – Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, and Mehbooba Mufti – were among those who participated in the prayers at Hazratbal. Other mosques across the valley also witnessed smaller gatherings, except for the historic Jamia Masjid in the old city, where permission to hold prayers at Eidgah was denied by the authorities, as per the managing authority of the mosque.

In accordance with tradition, thousands of sheep, goats, and other animals were sacrificed throughout the valley. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended his greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion, emphasizing the importance of love, compassion, and forgiveness. Political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir also conveyed their Eid wishes to the people.
