Every citizen of J&K is a stakeholder of Amarnath Yatra: LG Manoj Sinha

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized that every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir is a stakeholder of the Amarnath Yatra during an interaction with prominent members of Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs), civil society organizations, trade and business leaders, and spiritual leaders. The discussion revolved around the preparations and arrangements for the upcoming 62-day long Amarnath Yatra, which is set to commence on July 1.

LG Sinha expressed the unity of purpose among the people, stating, “We all have one purpose, one idea, our conscience is one, we are devoted to one message of peace, brotherhood, progress, and prosperity of J&K.” He urged the active participation of all sections of society in the yatra and commended the people of Kashmir for their welcoming nature towards the devotees of Baba Amarnath. Sinha regarded this as a beautiful example of peaceful and harmonious coexistence and emphasized that it represents the ancient values and culture of the region.

The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the significant role of civil society groups, elected representatives, spiritual leaders, and all stakeholders in fostering peace, progress, and prosperity in the region. He called for collective efforts and a united resolve to work together for the society’s progress. Sinha highlighted the social, economic, and spiritual opportunities provided by the Amarnath Yatra and emphasized the importance of discussions on new ideas and reforms under the intellectual leadership of prominent citizens.

LG Sinha assured that all suggestions and inputs for improving the yatra experience would be welcomed. The meeting also addressed arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival and the celebration of Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Hargobind Ji. A district-wise review was recently conducted to monitor preparations and ensure smooth arrangements for the Eid festival.

Prominent attendees at the meeting included Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Junaid Azim Mattu, Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board Darakhshan Andrabi, DDC chairpersons, civil society members, representatives of various organizations, religious heads, and community leaders. They shared their suggestions and extended support and cooperation to the administration for the peaceful and smooth conduct of the Amarnath Yatra.

In response to the demands and issues raised during the interaction, LG Sinha assured that appropriate steps would be taken to address the developmental needs of the people. Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Home R K Goyal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, and senior officials of the police and civil administration were also present at the meeting.
