Heavy rainfall triggers landslides in Sikkim, causing damage to around 100 houses.

SIKKIM, Jun 19:  Multiple landslides caused by torrential rain in West Sikkim district lead to extensive damage to nearly 100 houses and the destruction of bridges, according to officials. The Simphok area was particularly affected, with a major bridge being swept away by the flash floods in the College Khola Valley. The Dentam Sub Division in Gyalshing district also experienced significant landslides, resulting in damage to houses, roads, agricultural land, and livestock. Additionally, a suspension bridge at Lower Sapung over College Khola was washed away due to mudslides. Immediate relief efforts have been initiated by authorities, with restoration work on roads and bridges currently underway.
