Weather Department Predicts Predominantly Dry Conditions in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, June 8: The meteorological department has predicted mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir until June 12, with a lesser possibility of evening showers and thunderstorms. While the chances of precipitation are estimated to be around 10-20%, a brief spell of shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out, according to a department official cited by GNS.

Temperatures are anticipated to gradually increase, resulting in warmer days ahead. In terms of temperature readings, Srinagar recorded a low of 11.2°C, 2.2°C below the normal for the summer capital, compared to the previous night’s 12.4°C. Similarly, Qazigund observed a low of 10.2°C (1.8°C below normal), Pahalgam registered a low of 5.0°C (2.0°C below normal), and Kupwara town recorded a low of 10.4°C (1.3°C below normal). Kokernag reported a low of 9.9°C (3.0°C below normal), while Gulmarg recorded a low of 5.6°C (2.4°C below normal) for the famous skiing resort.

In Jammu, the temperature dropped to 21.7°C, which was 4.0°C below the normal for the winter capital of J&K. Banihal recorded a low of 11.5°C, Batote 13.0°C, Katra 19.6°C, and Bhaderwah 8.8°C.

Overall, residents can expect predominantly dry weather conditions in the region, with only a slight chance of evening showers and thunderstorms.
