New Delhi, June 8 : The Union Health Ministry’s latest update on Thursday revealed that India recorded 199 fresh cases of coronavirus, bringing the total tally to 4.49 crore (4,49,92,293). Meanwhile, active Covid cases witnessed a decline from 2,831 to 2,687. The death toll rose to 5,31,886, with two fatalities reported in the past 24 hours as per the 8 am data. The ministry emphasized that active cases now account for only 0.01 percent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate stands at an impressive 98.81 percent. The number of individuals who have successfully recovered from the disease surged to 4,44,57,720, and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 percent. Notably, India has administered a remarkable 220.66 crore doses of the Covid vaccine, as per the ministry’s website, in an extensive nationwide vaccination campaign.
