Doda, June 7: Team Arto Doda recently conducted an impactful enforcement drive on the Doda-Thatri-Gandoh route, resulting in the inspection of 120 vehicles. During the operation, 42 vehicles were found to be in contravention of various violations of the Motor Vehicles Act and were issued challans. Additionally, 12 vehicles were immediately compounded on the spot, leading to the realization of an amount of Rs 11,500 in fines. The drive specifically targeted overloading and overcharging in vehicles and aimed to raise awareness among vehicle operators at Thatri, Batyas, and Gandoh, urging them to adhere to traffic rules to prevent any unfortunate incidents on the hilly roads.
The offences detected during the enforcement drive were as follows: one vehicle was found without a High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP), one driver was using a mobile phone in violation of Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, three vehicles were non-compliant with Pollution Under Control (PUC) norms under Section 190(11), three vehicles were seized (two in Karah and one in Thatri), six vehicles were found to be operating out of route under sections 66/192A, four vehicles were overloaded, four vehicles had unauthorized alterations under section 52/177, five vehicles lacked proper fare lists, four riders were found without helmets, one vehicle was without a Side Load Device (SLD), two vehicles were uninsured, seven drivers were caught without seat belts under section 194(B), and one driver was not wearing a uniform. In total, 42 vehicles were issued challans, and an amount of Rs 11,500 was collected on the spot as compound fines.
The Arto Doda enforcement drive showcased its commitment to ensuring road safety and regulating traffic on the challenging Doda-Thatri-Gandoh route.
