Pakistan Government Plans Fiscal Budget Boost for Next Year, Strongly Indicates General Elections in 2023

Pakistan, June 03 : Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif-led government set to increase public spending in the next fiscal year, indicating a strong possibility of holding general elections on schedule. The federal development budget for the upcoming year will witness a substantial 31% rise, reaching Rs 950 billion, as reported by the Express Tribune. This move signals the government’s election preparedness, with the budget set to be presented before parliament on June 9. The current parliament’s term ends in mid-August, with elections expected to take place in early October. Opposition leader Imran Khan has been advocating for early elections, but the government has dismissed his demand.
