New Delhi, Jun 2 : Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur addressed the ongoing demands for action against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, stating that justice must be delivered through the proper legal channels. Thakur emphasized the government’s support for an unbiased investigation and stated that everyone wants justice but it can only be achieved by following due process. The minister assured that the Delhi Police is actively investigating the case and is expected to file a chargesheet soon. Thakur reiterated that the government has responded to the wrestlers’ demands, including setting up a probe committee and urging the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to appoint administrators for the WFI. He emphasized the importance of speedy justice for any atrocities committed and acknowledged that the incidents in question took place seven years ago. The wrestlers have been protesting for the arrest of Singh, alleging sexual harassment of female wrestlers, including a minor.
