Jammu, May 31 : Heavy rains in Ramban and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir led to landslides and mudslides, resulting in the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and Mughal road for traffic on Wednesday, according to officials. Around 200 vehicles have been stranded along various sections of the highway. The 270-kilometer-long Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the sole all-weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, was blocked due to mudslides and shooting stones. The closure will remain in effect until further clearance, as confirmed by SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma, in a tweet. A significant landslide near the Ratta Chamb bridge on Mughal road also halted traffic movement, with authorities and machinery engaged in clearing the debris.
