India Records 552 Fresh COVID-19 Cases; Active Infections Decline to 6,591

New Delhi, May 24: According to updated data from the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 552 fresh coronavirus infections, resulting in a decrease in active cases from 7,104 to 6,591. The death toll has risen to 5,31,849, including six new fatalities, three of which were reconciled by Kerala. As of 8 am, the total Covid case tally reached 4.49 crore (4,49,87,891).

The active cases now constitute only 0.01 percent of the total infections, with the national COVID-19 recovery rate reaching 98.80 percent, as reported by the ministry. The number of individuals who have successfully recovered from the disease has surged to 4,44,49,451, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.18 percent. Additionally, the Ministry’s website reveals that a total of 220.66 crore doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered throughout the country as part of the nationwide vaccination drive.
