Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. Of India organised District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament at Riwaayat – Udhampur. The objective of the programme was to celebrate India’s G20 presidency along with the celebration of International Year of Millets and Mission LiFE. Worthy DDC Sh. Puran Chand attended the event as Chief Guest whereas Sh. Pradyot Gupta (Assistant Labour Commissioner) was the Guest of Honour. Er. Naresh Singh (Superintendent ITI) was the special guest on the occasion. The event started with the traditional lamp lightening ceremony and Saraswati Vandana. Khushal Gupta, District Youth Officer, NYK Udhampur welcomed the guests, resource persons and participants and briefed about the objectives of organising the event. It was followed by the lectures by resource persons. Sh. Uttam Singh Albela (Academic Counsellor IGNOU) gave an awareness lecture on G20 and importance of its presidency by India. Prof. Sanjay Kumar (NSS PO) briefed about the International Year of Millets and Mission LiFE. Young participants also spoke on the occasion and gave their views followed by the cultural performance by the students.  Sh. Puran Chand appreciated the initiative of Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur and added that such programs need to be organised in regular intervals for dissemination of information to the masses. 
Sh. Pradyot Gupta also delivered lecture on the initiatives being taken by the government in uplifting the marginalised and the poor. He gave a detailed explanation of the schemes especially for the youth.  It is pertinent to mention that more than 1000 participants attended the program anchored by National Youth Volunteer Barsha Sharma and Sh. Deepak Kumar (Chairman of Bhartiya Kala Manch). The programme ended with the distribution of certificates and momentoes to the participants.
