Meteorological Forecast: Jammu and Kashmir to Experience Dry Weather in the Next 24 Hours

Srinagar, May 9: The Meteorological department in Jammu and Kashmir has forecasted predominantly dry weather for the next 24 hours, accompanied by an increase in daytime temperatures. While a brief spell of rain and thunderstorms cannot be entirely ruled out in some areas during the late afternoon or evening, the chances are relatively low.

The weather pattern is expected to remain mainly dry from May 10 to May 12, with a noticeable rise in temperatures and warmer days ahead during this period. However, from May 13 to May 15, isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir might experience rain and thunderstorms.

In terms of temperature, Srinagar recorded a low of 6.3°C, slightly lower than the previous night, and 4.4°C below the summer capital’s normal range. Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, witnessed a low of 5.8°C, which was 3.4°C below normal. Pahalgam, a popular tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, registered a low of 1.8°C, 3.7°C below normal. In Kupwara town, the temperature settled at 4.7°C, indicating a deviation of 4.6°C below normal for the north Kashmir region.

Kokernag reported a low of 4.0°C, 5.2°C below normal, while Gulmarg, the renowned skiing destination in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a low of minus 0.5°C, 5.7°C below normal. Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, witnessed a low of 17.4°C, 5.6°C below normal.

Other areas also experienced below-normal temperatures: Banihal at 4.8°C below normal by 6.1°C, Batote at 7.8°C below normal by 5.0°C, Katra at 14.5°C below normal by 5.2°C, and Bhaderwah at 4.0°C below normal by 4.0°C. Leh in Ladakh recorded a low of 1.6°C.
