India Reports a Decline in Active Covid-19 Cases to 25,178 with 1,839 New Infections

New Delhi, May 8: According to the latest data from the Union health ministry, India reported 1,839 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday. The number of active cases decreased to 25,178 from the previous day’s count of 27,212. The country’s total COVID-19 tally now stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,71,469). The data updated at 8 am also revealed 11 new fatalities, taking the death toll to 5,31,692.

The active cases, currently at 25,178, account for only 0.06 percent of the total infections. The ministry reported a high national COVID-19 recovery rate of 98.76 percent.

The number of individuals who have successfully recovered from the disease has surged to 4,44,14,599, resulting in a case fatality rate of 1.18 percent.

As per the ministry’s website, the nationwide vaccination drive has administered a total of 220.66 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines so far.
