Urban Local Bodies in J&K to see the end of their 5-year term in October-November

SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir’s urban local bodies are set to complete their five-year term in October-November this year, according to officials. The Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s term will end on November 5, 2023, while the Jammu Municipal Corporation’s term will end on November 14, 2023. Municipal Councils and Committees will also complete their terms during the same period. The last urban local bodies elections were held in October 2018, during Governor’s rule, with impressive voter turnout in Jammu but only 3.1% in Kashmir, where just 31,541 votes were polled out of a total electorate of 1,032,498.
