Compulsory COVID testing for people coming from high positivity states in Tripura

Agartala, Apr 19 :On Wednesday, a senior health official announced that people arriving in Tripura from states with high COVID-19 positivity rates, including Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, must undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test. The tests will be conducted at airports, railway stations, and the Churaibari check gate. The official also emphasized the importance of wearing masks in hospitals and conducting screenings in public places. Since April 14, Tripura has reported ten new COVID-19 cases. The Health and Family Welfare Department has issued an advisory urging people to avoid crowded and poorly-ventilated places. According to the Union Health Ministry, India reported 10,542 new coronavirus infections, with 63,562 active cases and 38 new fatalities, bringing the total death toll to 5,31,190. The official stressed the importance of a five-fold strategy consisting of testing, tracking, treating, vaccinating, and adhering to COVID-appropriate behavior.
