SRINAGAR, Apr 10: The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari visited the ongoing construction of the Zojila Tunnel on Monday and expressed his belief that the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir will increase by 2-3 times with the completion of the tunnel. The minister stated that the project will provide all-weather connectivity to Ladakh and will reduce the travel time across Zojila Pass from three hours to just 20 minutes. The tunnel, which is being built at a cost of Rs 6,800 crore, will be equipped with modern facilities such as CCTV, radio control, and uninterrupted power supply. The Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited, the construction company responsible for the project, is hopeful of completing the tunnel by December 2026.
