SRINAGAR: A J&K police personnel was arrested on Wednesday after his rifle went off “accidentally” at a check-post in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, resulting in the death of a civilian. Additional DGP, Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said a case had been registered against the policeman and further investigation was on.
Police said Mohd Asif Padroo, a resident of Poterwaal village in Shopian, sustained bullet wounds in the accidental fire at the police check-post at Haal and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was referred to Srinagar’s SMHS Hospital, where he succumbed later.
