Jammu, Apr 29 : Jammu’s Amphalla jail is currently holding over 700 inmates, despite having a capacity of only 426, according to an official. The Executive Chairman of the J&K Legal Services Authority and Judge of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Justice Tash Rabstan, visited the jail to review facilities and was informed of the overcrowding and shortage of staff, with only half of the sanctioned staff currently managing the jail. Six foreign nationals, including a Pakistani national, were also found to be lodged in the jail. Justice Rabstan appreciated the efforts made by the Department of Prisons to provide basic necessities such as food, medical facilities, and skill training to the inmates.
