Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India celebrated National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. At the district level, the event was celebrated at two venues, Govt. Degree College Ramnagar and Govt. College For Women Udhampur. At the outset, Ms. Harmeet Kour (Vice-Principal GDC Ramnagar) welcomed the Chief Guest, DDC Sh. Mool Raj, District Youth Officer Sh. Khushal Gupta and other officials. She also highlighted the works and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Thereafter, tributes were paid to Swami Ji by garlanding the portrait by the NYK officials, Staff Members and students.
While addressing the volunteers, Sh. Mool Raj spoke that Swami Ji had visionary leadership and he is a true inspiration for today’s youth. Not only Indians, but people all over the world are followers his wise and intellect teachings. The DDC also administered Youth Pledge to all the participants of the event. NSS PO GDC Ramnagar Prof. Rittika Mahajan also delivered lecture on the topic, “Swami Vivekananda: Guiding Star For The Youth Of India”.
District Youth Officer Sh. Khushal Gupta, spoke that Swami Vivekananda is known as the Youngest Sanyasi. We can undoubtedly call Swami Ji as the most relevant personality for today’s youth in the present era. His teachings enable us to deal with different types of challenges by having a good control over mind thereby leading to a successful life. The DYO also thanked college administration for their cooperation in organising the successful event. In the evening, live streaming of Hon’ble PM’s address was done at GCW Udhampur in the presence of NSS PO GCW Udhampur Prof. Sumita Rao and Prof. Sanjay of Philosophy Department. More than 600 participants took part in both the events.
