A collision near Zojila Pass resulted in injuries to five individuals on Monday. The incident occurred when two vehicles collided in the mountainous region, raising concerns about road safety. Local officials reported the accident and took immediate action to assist the injured.
The victims were quickly transported to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sonamarg. Medical personnel there stabilized their conditions before referring them to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura for specialised treatment.
The injured individuals include Manzoor Hussain, son of Sadiq Ali Balti; Shabir Hussain, son of Hussain Ali Balti; Sadiqa Bano, wife of Manzoor Hussain Balti; Masrat Zara, daughter of Manzoor Hussain; and Fareeda Bano, daughter of Moad Hussain. All five victims hail from Kargil.
This accident raises questions regarding traffic management and safety measures in such treacherous terrains where vehicle collisions are not uncommon. Authorities have begun an investigation to ascertain the causes behind the incident.
