Anti-Terrorist Operation in J&K: Weapons Recovered in Poonch

Anti-Terrorist Operation in Kishtwar

An anti-terrorist operation is currently underway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, marked by fierce encounters with suspected terrorists. The operation began on September 19, 2025, when the alert troops of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps established contact with terrorists around 8 PM. As a result, heavy exchanges of fire ensued, showcasing the volatility of the situation.

Security forces have intensified operations in the region to neutralize terrorist threats effectively. This proactive approach underscores the commitment of Indian security forces to maintain peace and order in this troubled area.

Weapons Recovered in Poonch

In a parallel operation in Poonch district, the joint forces successfully recovered war-like stores, including an AK-47 series weapon, four magazines, 20 hand grenades, and various other munitions. The recovery highlights the ongoing efforts of the security forces to dismantle terrorist supply chains and prevent potential threats from escalating.

The White Knight Corps stated on social media, “#JointOperation | Recovery of War Like Stores. Alert #WhiteKnightCorps troops while carrying out an Intelligence based joint search operation with #JKP recovered one weapon (AK Series), four AK magazines, 20 hand grenades, and other war-like stores in Poonch Sector.”

Strategic Combined Operations Against Terrorism

These operations are part of a broader strategy employed by the Indian Army and local police, aiming to combat terrorism and related criminal activities in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The coordinated efforts focus not only on apprehending terrorists but also on targeting their overground workers (OGWs) and sympathizers, as well as drug smugglers and hawala money racketeers.

Intelligence agencies have indicated that many terrorist funding networks are connected to drug trafficking within the region. By dismantling these syndicates, security forces aim to disrupt the infrastructure that sustains terrorism in J&K.

Geographical Challenges in Counter-Terrorism

Jammu and Kashmir presents a challenging operational environment. The region shares a 240 km-long International Border and a 740 km-long Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan. The Border Security Force (BSF) guards the International Border, whereas the Indian Army secures the LoC.

This geographical complexity requires ongoing vigilance and a multi-pronged approach from security forces. The ability to conduct successful operations in such challenging terrain demonstrates the effectiveness of the Indian Army and allied forces.

Public Safety Remains a Priority

The current operations underscore the commitment of the Indian Armed Forces to ensure public safety and security. Major General Rakesh Kumar Singh, the commanding officer of the White Knight Corps, emphasized, “Our goal is to ensure that the people of J&K can live in peace. Operations will continue until we eliminate every threat from terrorism.”

Residents of Kishtwar and Poonch districts are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. The cooperative efforts between security forces and local communities are pivotal in achieving long-term stability.

As the situation develops, updates will be provided to keep the public informed of any further operations or security measures. Ensuring safety in this vital region remains the highest priority.
