PM Modi personally congratulated the Indian team over the phone after their seven-run win against South Africa, securing India’s second T20 World Cup title. Kohli, who scored 76 runs in the final, leading India to 176/7 and restricting South Africa to 169/8, retired from T20I cricket shortly after the victory.
