Virat Kohli Expresses Gratitude to PM Modi for Encouraging Words After India’s T20 World Cup Victory

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his supportive words following India’s victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Bridgetown, Barbados. PM Modi personally congratulated the Indian team over the phone after their seven-run win against South Africa, securing India’s second T20 World Cup title. Kohli, who scored 76 runs in the final, leading India to 176/7 and restricting South Africa to 169/8, retired from T20I cricket shortly after the victory.

Taking to social media, Kohli thanked PM Modi, stating, “Dear @narendramodi sir, thank you so much for your very kind words and your support and encouragement always. It has been a privilege to be a part of this team that has brought the cup home. We are deeply touched & overwhelmed with the happiness it has brought the entire nation.”

PM Modi praised Kohli’s pivotal performance in the final, commenting, “Dear @imVkohli, Glad to have spoken to you. Like the innings in the final, you have anchored Indian batting splendidly. You’ve shone in all forms of the game. T20 Cricket will miss you but I am confident you’ll continue to motivate the new generation of players.”

Despite a challenging campaign in the T20 World Cup, Kohli’s crucial innings in the final showcased his prowess, scoring 76 off 59 balls with six fours and two sixes, stabilizing India’s innings after early setbacks.
