JAMMU: In a bid to expedite the investigation into the heinous attack on a passenger bus in Reasi district, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have released a sketch of a terrorist believed to be involved in the incident. This announcement comes alongside a substantial reward of ₹20 lakh for any information leading to the apprehension of the suspect.
The attack, which targeted a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, has shocked the nation. The assailants opened fire on the bus near Teryath village in the Poni area, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a deep gorge. Tragically, nine innocent lives were lost, and 41 others sustained injuries in the attack.
According to a police spokesperson, the sketch of the wanted terrorist was meticulously crafted based on eyewitness accounts of the incident. Authorities are urging citizens to come forward with any relevant information that could aid in tracking down the perpetrator.
Efforts to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act are in full swing, with 11 teams of security personnel deployed on the ground. A multi-directional cordon has been established around the Ranso-Poni-Treyath belt as part of the extensive search operation.
