Parliament Session Scheduled from June 24 to July 3: Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi, Jun 12 — The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will commence on June 24 for the swearing-in of newly elected members, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday. The session will run until July 3.

The initial three days will focus on the oath-taking or affirmation by the new members and the election of the Speaker of the House. President Droupadi Murmu will address a joint session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on June 27, likely outlining the government’s roadmap for the next five years.

“First session of the 18th Lok Sabha is being summoned from June 24 to July 3 for oath/affirmation of newly elected members, election of Speaker, President’s address, and discussion thereon,” Rijiju posted on X.

Additionally, the 264th session of the Rajya Sabha will start on June 27 and conclude on July 3. Following the President’s address on June 27, Prime Minister Modi is expected to introduce his council of ministers to Parliament.

The session will also include a debate on the Motion of Thanks for the President’s address, with the prime minister expected to respond to the debate in both Houses. The opposition is anticipated to use the debate to challenge the NDA government on various issues.
