CEC Rajiv Kumar: India Sets World Record with 64.2 Crore Voters in Lok Sabha Polls

NEW DELHI, June 3: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced that India achieved a remarkable milestone in the Lok Sabha elections this year, with a record-breaking 64.2 crore voters casting their ballots, including 31.2 crore women. Speaking at a press briefing, Kumar highlighted the extensive scale of the electoral process, involving over 68,000 monitoring teams and 1.5 crore polling and security personnel.

“India created a world record with 64.2 crore voters, including 31.2 crore women, participating in the Lok Sabha elections this year,” Kumar reiterated during the briefing.

Responding to social media memes referring to election commissioners as ‘Laapataa Gentlemen,’ Kumar clarified, “We were always here, never went missing.” He added humorously, “Now memes can say the ‘Laapataa Gentlemen’ are back.”
