J&K Weather Update:
Amid the forecast for dry and hot weather, night temperatures continued to hover above normal in J&K except for Jammu city. Srinagar recorded a low of 15.4°C, remaining 3.4°C above normal for this time of the year. Similar trends were observed in other parts of the region, with places like Pahalgam and Gulmarg experiencing temperatures well above normal. However, Jammu recorded a below-normal low temperature of 23.6°C.
Forecast:
The Meteorological Department predicts generally dry and hot weather until May 29, with the possibility of thundershower activity at isolated places. From May 30 to May 31, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain/thunder at isolated places. This pattern is likely to continue from June 1 to June 2, with a slight relief expected from heat wave conditions during these days. However, another spell of heat wave is anticipated from June 3 onwards.
Health Advisory:
With the persistence of heat wave conditions, people are urged to avoid heat exposure and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and water. The forecasted relief from heat wave conditions from May 30 to June 2 should be utilized to mitigate the effects of extreme temperatures
