NEW DELHI, May 27: Emphasizing the true essence of empowerment, President Droupadi Murmu stated on Monday that spiritual empowerment is the real empowerment. She warned that when followers of any religion or sect stray from the path of spirituality, they fall prey to fanaticism and develop an unhealthy mentality.
“Spiritual values connect people of all religions,” President Murmu remarked during the national launch of ‘Spiritual Empowerment for a Clean and Healthy Society,’ organized by the Brahma Kumaris in New Delhi.
Murmu highlighted the active presence of forces promoting fear, terror, and war in various parts of the world. In this context, she praised the Brahma Kumaris Institution for providing an effective platform for human empowerment through numerous centers in over 100 countries. “This invaluable effort strengthens universal brotherhood by promoting spiritual values,” she said.
The President reflected on history, noting that its golden chapters have always been rooted in spiritual values. She pointed out that history demonstrates the disastrous consequences of ignoring spiritual values in favor of material progress alone. “Holistic well-being is only achievable through a healthy mentality,” she asserted.
According to Murmu, true health encompasses physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions. Individuals who embody these aspects contribute to the creation of a healthy society, nation, and world community. She reiterated that spiritual empowerment is genuine empowerment.
“When followers of any religion or sect deviate from spirituality, they become victims of fanaticism and develop an unhealthy mentality,” she reiterated in a statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Murmu stressed that working for public welfare, beyond selfish interests, is a social manifestation of inner spirituality, and charitable acts for the public good are among the most important spiritual values.
President Murmu expressed her pleasure at the Brahma Kumaris Institution, likely the world’s largest spiritual organization led by women. “In this organization, Brahma Kumaris are at the forefront, with Brahma Kumars working in the background,” she noted. This unique harmony, she said, is a testament to the institution’s ongoing progress in spiritual development and women’s empowerment, setting a remarkable example for the global community.
