Congress President Kharge Accuses China of Land Encroachment, Questions PM Modi’s Silence

NEW DELHI, May 25: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging China’s encroachment on Indian territory and criticizing the PM’s perceived silence on the matter.

Addressing a rally in Rohru, Himachal Pradesh, Kharge questioned the Prime Minister’s assertiveness, sarcastically referring to Modi’s oft-touted “56-inch chest.”

“Where is the 56-inch chest?” Kharge quipped, highlighting the alleged inaction of the government in response to China’s reported construction activities on Indian soil.

Asserting the Congress party’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the nation and upholding the Constitution, Kharge pledged to address the issue of government vacancies, promising to fill 30 lakh vacancies if the party secures victory in the Lok Sabha elections.

Kharge continued his tirade against the Centre, accusing it of neglecting Himachal Pradesh in the aftermath of the 2023 floods. According to Kharge, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s plea for Rs 10,000 crore in aid following the floods was met with indifference, receiving only symbolic gestures from the Centre.

The Congress leader’s remarks reflect growing concerns over border security and territorial integrity, with the opposition scrutinizing the government’s response to external threats and natural disasters.

As political rhetoric intensifies in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections, Kharge’s allegations against the government underscore the contrasting visions and priorities advocated by the Congress party, setting the stage for a spirited electoral contest.
