Mamata Banerjee, the chairperson of the Trinamul Congress, declared her party’s full support for the INDIA bloc to regain power in Delhi, anticipating a victory of around 315 seats. She forecasted that the BJP-led NDA would secure between 190 and 195 seats.
Speaking at a rally at Palta Shantinagar Health Centre ground, falling under the Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat where Partha Bhowmick is the Trinamul Congress nominee, Banerjee emphasized, “We do not want anything. We will support a progressive, sensitive, secular government in Delhi.”
Earlier, Banerjee addressed another gathering at Bongaon, where Biswajit Das is the Trinamul candidate. In 2019, the seat was won by Shantanu Thakur of the BJP.
During her address in Barrackpore, Banerjee criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “Narendra Modi should tender an unconditional apology for his failure to deliver Rs 15 lakh in everyone’s account and jobs to 2 crore youth each year for 10 years. He should apologize for the Centre’s failure to purchase jute, which has led to the closure of jute mills in North 24-Parganas.”
She further added, “He is blaming me now. He is so shameless that in order to cover up his own faults, he speaks volumes of lies.” Asserting Modi’s guarantees as “false and fake,” Banerjee assured, “Rest assured, he will never keep his promises. I will die if I fail to keep my promises. I had promised before the 2012 election about Lakshmir Bhandar and implemented it. We give Sabuj Sathi cycles to students from Class IX, and from next year, smartphones will be given to students from Class XI, instead of Class XII.”
