High Court Requests CBI and ED Response to Sisodia’s Bail Pleas in Excise Policy “Scam” Case

New Delhi, May 3 : The Delhi High Court has requested responses from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s petitions for bail in corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged excise policy scam.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma issued notices to the investigative agencies in response to Sisodia’s challenges against a trial court’s April 30 decision, which denied his bail requests. The high court scheduled the next hearing for May 8.

In an interim application, Sisodia requested the court to uphold the trial court’s order permitting him to visit his ailing wife once a week while in custody, pending the outcome of his petitions. The ED’s counsel stated that the agency had no objection to continuing the trial court’s order, which Justice Sharma approved.

The trial court had rejected Sisodia’s bail pleas in cases of corruption and money laundering filed by the CBI and ED, respectively, related to alleged irregularities in formulating and executing the now-defunct Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
