BSF IG Speculates Intruder Sent to Test Troops’ Alertness Amid Infiltration Bid in J&K

JAMMU, May 2 : A senior BSF official revealed on Thursday that an intruder killed along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district might have been dispatched to conduct reconnaissance of the area and assess the troops’ alertness for a potential infiltration attempt.

BSF troops successfully thwarted an infiltration bid on Wednesday night at Samba’s Regal post along the IB, resulting in the intruder’s demise, officials reported. The body of the intruder was recovered from the scene on Thursday.

During his visit to a forward post in Jammu, BSF Inspector General (IG) D K Boora informed reporters about the incident. According to Boora, the intruder was detected moving from across the border around 8:15 pm on Wednesday, and despite repeated warnings from the troops, he continued to advance aggressively, prompting the troops to open fire.

Boora speculated that the intruder’s mission might have been to conduct reconnaissance and evaluate the security measures along the border. He highlighted a gap in the embankment near the incident site and a closed gate, suggesting a potential breach attempt. Boora voiced suspicion that the intruder could have been part of a larger infiltration plan, with others potentially observing him from across the border.

Praising the vigilance and swift action of the troops, Boora emphasized their duty to neutralize threats and the demoralizing impact such actions have on adversaries.

Responding to concerns raised by police about two groups of terrorists allegedly hiding in the Basantgarh hills after recent infiltration, Boora deferred comments, stating that Basantgarh is beyond their operational area and the matter is under police investigation.

When questioned about potential infiltration attempts along the IB, Boora dismissed any recent incidents, stating the lack of information regarding such attempts.
