PM Modi Criticizes Congress, Alleging Failure to Provide Farmers with Irrigation Water in 60 Years

Solapur (Maharashtra), April 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress during a massive public gathering in Madha, Solapur Lok Sabha constituency, Maharashtra. He criticized the Congress’s governance over 60 years, alleging failure to provide farmers with irrigation water while other nations progressed.

Modi highlighted the stagnation in irrigation projects, with many stuck in red tape for decades, including 26 projects in Maharashtra alone. He accused the Congress of betraying Maharashtra by neglecting irrigation needs.

Taking a dig at Sharad Pawar, former Union Agriculture Minister, Modi noted the increase in Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane under his tenure compared to the previous Congress-led UPA government. He emphasized the recent approval of FRP for sugarcane growers for the 2024-25 season.

Modi accused previous Congress governments in Maharashtra of misappropriating funds allocated by the Centre for farmers. He assured direct allocation of funds to farmers’ accounts under the current administration.

Highlighting women empowerment, Modi praised the contribution of women in Self Help Groups and vowed to create millions of financially empowered women. He assured the nation of continued progress towards a developed India.

The third phase of polling in Maharashtra, covering 11 seats, is scheduled for May 7, out of the total 48 seats in the state.
