Srinagar, Apr 17 : In a joint operation conducted by the police, paramilitary CPRF, and army on Wednesday, a suspected militant hideout was unearthed in Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district. Officials reported the discovery of two Tiffin improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing 3 kilograms each during the operation.
The operation, initiated around 0600 hours by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Mendhar, along with police units from Gursai, 246th battalion of CRPF, and the army, focused on areas including Passan wali and Sanai Gali in Gursai, along with their surrounding regions. The search efforts led to the identification and dismantling of the suspected hideout, with the recovery of the two Tiffin IEDs, along with a steel can IED, electric wire bundle, batteries, medicine, and clothing.
A police official confirmed the discovery, noting that the explosive devices were concealed within polythene bags. Additionally, there were reports indicating the presence of three armed militants in the area. The IEDs were subsequently destroyed in a controlled manner, and thorough searches are ongoing to ensure complete security in the region.
