Omar Abdullah of NC Suggests BJP Support Hinges on Satisfaction from Article 370 Abrogation

Srinagar, April 4: National Conference leader Omar Abdullah urged voters to voice their opinion on the abrogation of Article 370 by voting in the upcoming elections. Addressing a party gathering, the former chief minister stated that those content with the decision of August 5, 2019, should support the BJP, while those opposed to it should rally behind the National Conference.

Abdullah emphasized the importance of voter participation in expressing dissatisfaction or approval with political decisions, particularly in Srinagar, where he noted a political vacuum. When asked about campaigning beyond Jammu and Kashmir, he reaffirmed his focus on supporting National Conference candidates within the territory.

He highlighted efforts to ensure Congress candidates’ success in Jammu and Udhampur-Kathua seats, with assurances from the Congress to leverage its influence in Kashmir for National Conference candidates. Abdullah also addressed concerns about potential vote division due to the People’s Democratic Party’s participation in the elections, emphasizing the need to analyze voting patterns from past elections.

Regarding the security of party members, Abdullah criticized what he perceived as unequal treatment, with National Conference members allegedly lacking upgraded security despite perceived threats. He vowed to challenge such treatment, asserting the party’s determination to confront both political opponents and administrative hurdles.
