Successful Flight Test of New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni-Prime

New Delhi, April 4: India achieved a significant milestone with the successful flight test of the new generation ballistic missile Agni-Prime from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

The Ministry of Defence announced that the test-flight took place on Wednesday evening and met all trial objectives, validating its reliable performance. Data collected from various range sensors deployed at different locations confirmed the success of the test.

In a statement, the ministry highlighted that the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), conducted the successful flight-test of Agni-Prime from APJ Abdul Kalam Island on April 3, around 1900 hours.

The launch was observed by top officials including the Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, Chief of Strategic Forces Command, and senior personnel from DRDO and the Indian Army.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended his congratulations to DRDO, SFC, and the Armed Forces for the successful test. He emphasized that the development and induction of Agni-Prime will serve as an excellent force multiplier for the Indian Armed Forces.

Chief of Defence Staff General Chauhan and DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat appreciated the joint efforts of SFC and DRDO for the successful execution of the flight test, marking a significant advancement in India’s ballistic missile capabilities.
