Srinagar: The Indian National Congress (INC) has unveiled its roster of 28 star campaigners for Jammu and Kashmir, featuring prominent figures such as party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and two Chief Ministers alongside other senior national leaders.
Submitted by INC General Secretary KC Venugopal to the Secretary of the Election Commission of India, the list includes stalwarts like Kharge and the Gandhis, along with Chief Ministers Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu (Himachal Pradesh) and Revanth Reddy (Telangana), who will actively support Congress candidates in Jammu and Kashmir. Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar are also set to join the campaign in the Union Territory.
While Rahul Gandhi previously visited Jammu and Kashmir in 2022 during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Gandhis made a private trip to the Kashmir valley later. However, this marks Mallikarjun Kharge’s inaugural visit to the UT as Congress president. The Congress has fielded its working president, Raman Bhalla, for the Jammu-Reasi seat, and Choudhary Lal Singh for the Udhampur-Doda constituency.
Other star campaigners enlisted by the Congress for Jammu and Kashmir include Ambika Soni, KC Venugopal, Sachin Pilot, Bharatsinh Solanki, Pramod Tewari, Pawan Khera, Ranjeet Ranjan, TS Singh Deo, Imran Pratapgarhi, Manoj Yadav, Vikar Rasool Wani, PCC chief GA Mir, former PCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla, Choudhary Lal Singh, GN Monga, Shameema Raina, and Akash Bharat.
