BSF IG: Infiltration Risks Rise During Key Events Like Elections Along LoC, But Security Forces Remain Vigilant

Srinagar, March 29: A senior BSF official stated that the chances of infiltration attempts from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir rise as the snow melts and during significant events like elections. However, he assured that security forces are alert and capable of thwarting any such attempts.

BSF Inspector General (Kashmir Frontier) Ashok Yadav informed reporters in Srinagar, “The BSF is deployed with the Army on the LoC. Elections are a critical time, and we are prepared to prevent any infiltration attempts from across. We are conducting area domination exercises.”

Yadav emphasized that while infiltration risks along the LoC persist, they escalate during significant events such as elections. “So, the BSF and the Army remain vigilant and prepared to foil such attempts,” he added.

Explaining further, Yadav noted that the chances of infiltration attempts also increase as routes open up after the snow melts. “We have devised plans to dominate those areas. Vulnerability maps have been created, and forces will conduct area domination exercises accordingly. The security forces are fully capable of thwarting any such attempts,” he assured.

The BSF IG mentioned that approximately 65 companies of the BSF are deployed in the hinterland in Kashmir, working alongside the Jammu and Kashmir Police to strengthen the security grid. “These BSF companies are deployed across North, South, and Central Kashmir ranges, bolstering the security grid and conducting area domination exercises in collaboration with the J-K Police. We will do everything necessary to ensure smooth elections,” Yadav affirmed.
