Srinagar, March 21: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, emphasized on Thursday that ensuring the conduct of free and fair Lok Sabha elections and the smooth organization of the Amarnath Yatra are significant tasks for the Jammu and Kashmir administration this year.
He assured that the administration is fully prepared, and all necessary arrangements for both events will be adequately in place. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event at KICC, Bidhuri highlighted the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) to ensure a level playing field for all parties.
Bidhuri stated, “The conduct of free and fair Lok Sabha elections and the Amarnath Yatra in 2024 are significant tasks for the Jammu & Kashmir administration.” He mentioned a recent meeting regarding the Amarnath Yatra and affirmed efforts to provide satisfactory arrangements for the pilgrimage. Regarding elections, he expressed optimism for a record voter turnout, citing positive feedback received from the ground.
Responding to queries, Bidhuri informed that road work in Shehr-e-Khas is ongoing, and blacktopping will commence once the weather improves. He assured that the Model Code of Conduct would not hamper the development of road works.
