Srinagar, March 18: Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi, announced on Monday that the Sadq-e-Fitr (Zakaat-ul-Fitr) for this year is set at Rs 70 per person.

Emphasizing the importance of this charity, the Grand Mufti stated that after consulting scholars from various schools of thought, the amount has been unanimously decided as Rs 70 per individual. He also noted that this special form of charity must be paid on behalf of infants as well.

Sadq-e-Fitr is a religious obligation observed by Muslims worldwide, to be paid before or during Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.
