Chenab Valley mosques witness heavy crowd on First Friday of Ramadan amid tight security arrangements

Bhaderwah:- On the first Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, all the city and peripheral Jamia Masjids (mosques) of Chenab Valley were overflowing with Muslims assembled to offer Friday prayer in the afternoon.

Heads bowed in obeisance and palms cupped in supplication, they prayed to the Almighty for their welfare and for peace and social harmony.

At Bhadarwah, devotees in dozens were seen offering Prayer on the Road, out side historical Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah, in view of heavy crowd of people to offer first Friday Prayer of Holy month of Ramadan.

People were offering 1st Friday Prayer on the road outside Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah where proper arrangements were made by the Masjid Committee.

Starting on Tuesday, the ninth month of Islamic calendar will culminate on the festival of Eid-ul-fitr by April 9 or 10 depending on the sighting of the moon.

In this monthlong fasting or ‘Roza’, the Muslims offer special prayers to rededicate themselves to the Almighty. Those observing fast control themselves not only in eating and drinking but also from many desires. “This purifies one’s soul and changes lifestyle. It makes a foundation of discipline and enthuses a sense of constructive thinking and working,” said Anjuman Islamia Bhadarwah president Pervaiz Sheikh.

Administration also suspended Traffic on the road for an hour in view of heavy crowd.

SHO Bhaderwah Sandeep Parihar was personally monitoring the arrangements at Bhaderwah.

Many Jamia Masjids of Bhadarwah including Jamia Masjid Mohallah Sarafan,Jamia Masjid Ghatha, Jamia Masjid Eidgah, Jamia Masjid Sartingal, College road and Jamia Masjid Sadiqa Abad also witnessed huge crowd of people on the eve of first Friday of Ramadan.

According to reports other Jamia Masjids of Chenab Valley including Noor Masjid, Eidgah Masjid, Jamia Masjid, Bundoda Masjid and Akramabad Masjid of Doda, Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Jamia Masjid Gandoh, Jamia Masjid Kilhotran, Jamia Masjid Kahara, Jamia Masjid Thathri, Masjid Sharief Bhella, Markazi Jamia Masjid Changa and Jamia Masjid Akhyarpur also witnessed heavy crowd to offer first Friday prayer of Ramadan.

Security was also beefed in view of 1st Friday Prayer of Holly month of Ramadan in and around all the major towns of Chenab Valley.
