Sonapur (WB), Jan 29: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ recommenced its journey from Sonapur in Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal on Monday morning. The Yatra proceeded to Chopra and is set to continue to Islampur, where Gandhi is slated to address a small gathering before entering Kishanganj in Bihar, as per a party leader.
“Rahul ji spent the night at Sonapur and started the journey around 8 am from here. He is now at Islampur and is likely to address a small gathering. He will be going to Kishanganj,” informed the party leader.
Supporters and enthusiasts were observed welcoming the Congress leader, who traveled in a vehicle surrounded by tight security. The Yatra, initiated in Manipur on January 14, entered West Bengal from Assam on Thursday morning, taking a two-day hiatus during which Gandhi returned to New Delhi.
The Yatra is slated to re-enter West Bengal on January 31 via Malda, and after traversing through Murshidabad, it will exit the state on February 1. Spanning 6,713 km over 67 days, the Yatra aims to cover 110 districts across 15 states before concluding in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.
