New Delhi, January 27: The Congress party criticized the central government on Saturday, asserting that a significant portion of the Indian population is troubled by “rising inflation, economic downturn, unemployment, and conflicts,” while the Modi administration is engaged in diverting the country’s attention.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary, highlighted a media report stating that vegetable prices have surged by 15 to 60 percent in the last year. In a Hindi post, Ramesh mentioned, “Amid the ‘era of inflation’ under ‘ahankaracharya,’ one out of every three Indians fears losing their job this year, and 57 percent are anxious about inflation.” He added that every other person in India is grappling with injustice, perturbed by the surge in inflation, economic recession, unemployment, and conflicts, while the Modi government employs its typical diversion tactics. Despite this, the Congress vows to persist in its efforts to deliver justice to the people.
The Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, is set to recommence with a padyatra in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, on Sunday afternoon. The yatra, which had been ongoing for 12 consecutive days, took a pre-planned break.
The Congress has consistently criticized the government’s economic policies and raised alarms about the purported increase in unemployment and inflation.
