Srinagar Shivers as Season’s Coldest Night Sets in, Minimum Temperature Drops to -4.6°C

Srinagar, Dec 9 : Srinagar witnessed its coldest night of the season as the minimum temperature plummeted to minus 4.6 degrees Celsius, marking a significant drop from the previous night’s minus 2.4 degrees Celsius. This sets a new low for the season in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Pahalgam, located in the Anantnag district, emerged as the coldest spot in the Kashmir Valley, recording a minimum temperature of minus 5 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg in Baramulla district registered a low of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius, and Qazigund, Kokernag, and Kupwara reported temperatures of minus 2.8, minus 2.3, and minus 3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The meteorological office forecasted generally cloudy yet dry conditions until December 11, along with a further decrease in night temperatures. Looking ahead, between December 12 and 15, there’s a potential for light rain or snowfall at isolated locations in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.
