Fresh Snowfall Forces Closure of Mughal Road to Traffic

Srinagar, November 30: Following a recent bout of snowfall, the renowned Mughal Road has been shut down for traffic, alongside the suspension of movement on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road due to snow accumulation, as per officials’ statements today.

A representative from the traffic police highlighted that the Mughal Road, a significant route linking Shopian in Kashmir to Rajouri and Poonch districts in the Jammu division, was closed off to traffic due to the fresh snowfall. Additionally, he reported that the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road was still impassable due to accumulated snow. He stated, “Clearance work is in progress, and traffic will resume once we receive approval from BEACON authorities.”

Despite these closures, traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remains operational.

The local Meteorological Department has forecasted the likelihood of light rains and snow in the region.
