New Delhi, Nov 23: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the para archers from the region who made history and brought pride to India by securing six medals at the Para Asian Archery Championship held in Thailand.
Singling out the exceptional performances of Sheetal Devi, Rakesh Kumar, and Sarita, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his admiration on X, stating, “What an incredible achievement! Para archers from J&K scripted history & brought glory to India by winning 6 Medals including 4 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze at Para Asian Archery Championship, Thailand. The consistent performances of our Archers reflect hard work & perseverance.”
Highlighting the remarkable achievements of Sheetal, Rakesh, and Sarita, he emphasized that their outstanding performances exemplify the true spirit of sportsmanship. Drawing parallels to their admirable success at the Asian Para Games, he noted that this marks just the beginning of a new sporting era. He extended his best wishes to all the athletes for their future endeavors.
Rakesh Kumar secured three gold medals in the men’s individual, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles in the compound category. Sheetal, along with Jyoti, clinched gold in women’s doubles against a South Korean pair, narrowly missing gold in the compound open category. Sarita, competing in the same event, earned a well-deserved bronze medal.
The Indian contingent concluded the Championships with a total of 9 Medals, including 4 Gold Medals, solidifying their outstanding performance on the international stage.
