Mumbai , October 27 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the 7th India Mobile Congress (IMC), a three-day event held at the Bharat Mandapam convention center in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. During his address at the event, Prime Minister Modi declared that India is not merely expanding 5G technology but is also actively progressing towards becoming a global leader in 6G technology.
Modi took the opportunity to make a subtle reference to the alleged 2G spectrum allocation scandal during the previous Congress-led UPA government. He emphasized that, unlike those events, the expansion of 4G during his government was carried out without any blemish, affirming his confidence that India will take the lead in 6G technology worldwide.
The India Mobile Congress also saw the inauguration of 100 5G labs in various institutions across the country, marking a significant step in India’s technological advancement.
Addressing the evolving technological landscape, the Prime Minister noted, “With changes in technology every day, we say the future is here and now.”
Prime Minister Modi celebrated recent announcements by global tech giants choosing to manufacture their flagship products in India. He cited Google’s decision to manufacture Pixel phones in India, along with Samsung’s production of Fold 5 mobile phones and Apple’s iPhone 15 in the country. The Prime Minister expressed pride in the increasing prevalence of “Made in India” mobile phones worldwide.
Sunil Bharati Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises and founder of Bharti Airtel, also spoke at the event. He underscored the significance of the “Digital India” and “Make in India” initiatives as key pillars of the India Mobile Congress 2023, praising Prime Minister Modi for launching these schemes to boost India’s economy.
Mittal pointed out, “Two pillars are very important for IMC 2023…First was Digital India…You raised the slogan of JAM Trinity, which was based on Jan Dhan, Aadhar, and Mobile, and is being discussed across the world…Whether it is the World Bank, UN, WTO, African Union, European Nation, G20, OECD Countries, or BRICS, there is only one slogan: the Digital Infrastructure that India has built can accelerate the world economy, especially in those countries which have a lack of infrastructure…The second most important one is Make in India.”
