Karan Singh Requests Removal from Executive Committee in Jammu and Kashmir’s Congress Unit

Jammu, October 23: Karan Singh, a respected Congress leader, has formally requested the removal of his name from the 22-member executive committee of the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit, citing his long-standing disengagement from state politics. This appeal was conveyed to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in a letter dated October 21.

On October 19, Kharge had granted approval for the formation of the committee, which included seasoned leaders such as Karan Singh and Saif-ud-din Soz, along with prominent party members Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Tariq Hameed Karra, and Tara Chand.

In his letter, the 92-year-old Karan Singh stated, “I see that my name has been included in the executive committee of the newly reconstituted Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee. As you know, I have not been active in state politics for several years. I, therefore, request that my name be deleted from the list.” This move underscores his desire to disengage from active political involvement in the region.
