Cabinet Gives Nod to 4% Increase in Dearness Allowance for Central Government Employees

New Delhi, Oct 18: The Union Cabinet has granted approval for a four percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central government employees, along with a corresponding raise in Dearness Relief for pensioners. Providing details of the cabinet’s decisions, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur confirmed that the adjustment would be applied from July 1 of the current year.

Thakur stated, “Dearness Allowance for Central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners has been increased by four percent. The DA hike will be implemented from July 1, 2023.” This decision will extend its benefits to a total of 48.67 lakh Central Government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners.

The timing of this decision is significant as it coincides with the festive season, bringing much-needed relief and a boost to both Central government employees and pensioners.
