Bhaderwah, Oct 10:- The 3 days Youth Festival SANGAM 2023 concluded with the Valedictory function and distribution of prizes among the winners and participants followed by cultural event.
The 11th edition of SANGAM 2023, with the tag line of ‘Unity and Peace’ was organized by Bhaderwah Campus in collaboration with Army’s 4 Rastryia Rifles with an aim to inculcate sense of belonging for the nation and promote peace, unity and communal harmony among young minds and also gives youth a platform and exposure to showcase their skills in different fields.
The Closing Ceremony of the mega event was held in the premises of Bhaderwah Campus, where ADC Bhaderwah Dilmir Chowdhary was the chief guest while ASP Bhaderwah Vinod Sharma was the guest of honour.
The Mega event witnessed participation of more than 500 students and teachers coveraged from 20 Colleges, universities and Campuses of Jammu province.
It is notable that the 3 days mega youth festival SANGAM-2023 was inaugurated by Commander 9 Sector RR Brig Samir K Palande along with DC Doda Vishesh Pal Mahajan and SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, in presence of CO 4RR Col Yogesh Couhan, Prof Rahul Gupta Rector Bhaderwah Campus and Registrar Jammu University on Saturday October 7.
The highlight of the closing ceremony was the mesmerizing performance by the students of Government Degree College Ramban, in which they showcased their unique culture and age-old traditional dance skills.
The overall runners-up trophy was bagged by Govt Degree College Doda while Jammu University lifts the first position.
The Closing Ceremony ended with prize distribution to all the students, including winners and runner-up teams, beside all participating players by the chief guest along with other dignitaries.
Special prize as a token of love and appreciation for paying tributes to Army Martyrs through their cultural item was given to Poonch Campus.

‘SANGAM’ is the iconic youth festival of Jammu and Kashmir and this used to be the most important and eagerly awaited event of the annual calender of Jammu University.
The youth festival provides a suitable platform for the youth to showcase their talent across domains of sports, culture and fine arts with an aim of spreading the message of Peace, Unity & communal harmony.
This unique festival also provides students with an opportunity to interact with one another and learn good values and experience the local cultural heritage.
A total of 25 events (outdoor and Indoor activities) including Debate, Poster Making, Photography, Skit, Chess, Athletic, Rangooli, Marathon, Kho-Kho, Race, Discuss Throw etc was conducted during Youth Festival.
ADC Bhaderwah Dilmir Chowdhary in his address stressed on empowerment of youth and appreciated the role of Army. “Youth are for nation building and we are indebted to 4-Rashtriya Rifles and Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu for taking this initiative of bringing together the young minds. Such endeavors inculcate the sense of discipline, self-confidence, dedication, responsibility, vision and most importantly patriotism among the youth leading to a strong nation building.”
“In the present context of globalization and technological advancements, holding of such events by Indian Army and Bhaderwah Campus is a welcome sign to inculcate the sense of unity, integrity, discipline, punctuality and over all the human values. Such festivals emerge as the best platforms for exchange of culture, traditions, customs, folklore, music thus imbibing a strong networking of human values among different sections of society particularly the youth, the target mass in the current context, “said ASP Bhaderwah Vinod Sharma , adding the festival is not only for showcasing the dances, music and culture but also brings the people together and thereby develops a sense of belongingness and national integration.
ERO Bhaderwah Campus Arif Khateeb in his address said, “Through Sadhbhavana, Army not only contributed to the development in infrastructure including institutions but also has taken up the development of youth through sports, educational and allied activities.
“The event becoming a ‘Sangam’ of entire Jammu and Kashmir, in true letter and spirit and hopefully, next year more students will also join us to make it a mega ‘Sangam’,” Khateeb added.
During the Closing Ceremony the 2IC Rashtriya Rifles Lt Col Samir in his address thanked all participants especially students who enthusiastically participated in all the 25 events during 3 days SANGAM-2023.
Prominent among those who were present during the closing ceremony include Nodal Officer Dr Jitendra Singh, Prof Neeraj Kotwal, ERO Arif Khateeb and others.
Meanwhile Army and Bhaderwah Campus canceled scheduled musical night due to death of a policeman Daya Krishan who lost his life in an unfortunate incident during security checking and frisking of the venue. A two minutes silence was also observed to pay tributes to the departed soul during the Valedictory function.
